Among several key roles during a 17-year tenure with Wausau / Liberty Mutual, Rich served as Enterprise SVP of Claims for the Agency Markets segment, where he oversaw 4,000+ claims professionals and more than 3.5 billion in loss payments and reserves annually.

Rich started his career in the Navy Judge Advocate General’s office and in the Navy Legal Service Office. This foundation led to his serving as a claims or staff attorney in multiple organizations, and to his leading Toxic Torts, Large Loss, and Workers Compensation claim units at both Acuity Insurance and Wausau / Liberty. His experience with diverse claims types is extensive.

Suite 200 Solutions Announces Launch of Second CLM Insurance Defense Counsel Study

Lake Geneva, WI — Suite 200 Solutions announces that they will conduct the second CLM Insurance Defense Counsel Study, commissioned by the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM). The Study will launch later this year with findings showcased at the CLM’s Annual Conference in April 2024 in San Francisco.

The Study will update findings from the CLM’s inaugural 2020 Defense Counsel Study, in which more than 400 insurance defense attorneys participated. A primary purpose of the Study  will be to provide information and data that will facilitate improved communication and working relationships between defense law firms and the insurance litigation executives who retain them.

The Study will examine topics of interest to those involved in the insurance defense litigation community. It will include questions for counsel on a wide range of topics such as:  

  • What defines value in today’s litigation management environment?

  • What is their view of how performance is assessed and rewarded?

  • How can firms and attorneys create competitive distinction?

  • What is the state of attorneys’ relationships with litigation executives today?

  • What do attorneys feel are their greatest challenges in the current environment?

Participation in the study is anonymous and all data and information provided by each participant is strictly confidential.

Prior to joining Suite 200 Solutions, Steve was a senior claim specialist with AXA XL, where he worked with large corporate insureds, helping them to manage litigation, expenses, retentions, and providing excess cover.  In addition, he managed a growing book of program business in the business classes of nursing homes, transportation, golf courses, and luxury hospitality.

 

Previously, Steve also served as manager of specialty claims with State Auto Insurance, where he was responsible for quality assurance, TPA onboarding and due diligence, as well as oversight of a team of professionals handling non-standard casualty claims.

Suite 200 Solutions Commissioned to Conduct 2023 CLM National Litigation Management Study

Plantation, FL — The Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) is pleased to announce the fifth edition of the CLM National Litigation Management study entitled The State of the Union: Litigation Management in 2023. This comprehensive examination of litigation management practices across the property-casualty arena will survey more than 100 senior-level executives to chart emerging trends and explore adoption of litigation management technology.

Previous studies have become a go-to resource for litigation management program decision makers since its inception in 2012. Once again, Suite 200 Solutions has been commissioned by CLM to conduct the study which will be underwritten by key industry sponsors. Data collection is scheduled to commence in early November 2022 and findings will be released in March 2023 at CLM Annual Conference in Tampa, FL.

Rich has in-depth experience in personal auto and specialty lines, as well as commercial lines focused on livery and paratransit throughout the country. Ross served most recently as Vice President Casualty Claims for Liberty Mutual. Prior to retiring from Liberty Mutual, Ross also served as Head of Claims for Liberty Ireland, VP of No-Fault and SIU Claims, VP of Property Claims for Safeco Insurance and multiple Regional Claims VP roles.

Ross has served as a board member of the National Insurance Crime Bureau and Arbitration Forums, Inc. He also serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Collin County CASA.

The Study has been commissioned by the national law firm of Wilson Elser and will be underwritten by Wilson Elser and other industry thought-leaders.

“Many in our industry saw the adoption of virtual litigation management practices accelerate rapidly during the pandemic,” says Taylor Smith, President of Suite 200 Solutions. “This Study will explore how property casualty claims and litigation leaders perceive those changes. Are these changes here to stay? Do executives believe they are saving money with these new and virtual approaches to case management? Will they encourage or mandate that their law firms continue to use these new practices? Are law firms incorporating these new approaches on their own?”

Suite 200 Solutions Launches Follow-up CLM Study on
Covid-related Claims Frequency Changes

Lake Geneva, WI — Suite 200 Solutions (formerly CLM Advisors) announces that it has launched a follow-up study looking at recent changes in claims frequency related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The objective of the Study is to provide the claims community with some benchmarking data about what their peers are experiencing. The results of the Study will be released in early January 2021.

This is a follow-up to the Report of Findings we issued in June of 2020 A copy of that report can be found here.

Both studies have been commissioned by the CLM (The Claims and Litigation Management Alliance). All responses are anonymous. No identifying information is required from participants.

Glenn Dienstag Joins Suite 200 Solutions

Glenn brings more than 25 years of senior claims leadership experience to Suite 200 Solution clients. He will focus a majority of his consulting practice on helping outside law firms become the “go to” law firms for their insurance clients.

Having spent years as a senior claims leader, Glenn knows why firms and specific attorneys are continuously requested by claims professionals. He helps law firms to improve carrier audit outcomes, litigation management compliance, work product quality, improving outcomes, customer satisfaction, operational and technical efficiency, and growth opportunities.

For claims organizations, Glenn will also assist in the improvement of litigation management strategies, to drive down ALAE and improve claim outcomes.

Most recently, Glenn served as Chief Claims Officer at Vela Insurance Services, A WR Berkley Company. He previously held senior leadership roles as Senior Vice President of Claims and head of litigation for Old Republic Contractors Insurance Group (ORCIG), and as Vice President at AIG Domestic Claims. Glenn began his career as an associate with Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker, where he focused his practice on construction litigation, medical malpractice and general liability matters.

Glenn has served on the Construction Advisory Board of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (the CLM), and is a featured speaker at many industry conferences. In 2019, he was the first recipient of the Defense Association of New York (DANY) Insurance Executive Award. Glenn is a member of the New York State Bar.

Suite 200 Solutions announces with tremendous sadness the premature passing Jeff Bossart, who died in early September of 2020. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him professionally and personally.

Jeff had just joined Suite 200 Solutions in June, only four months prior, with a desire to improve succession planning processes across the industry. He had a deep passion for this topic, and a desire to help claims organizations improve how they identify and develop internal staff for leadership roles.

His professional career was very impressive and spanned more than 30 years of accomplishments. He had served as EVP and Chief Claims Officer for Aspen Insurance Group, SVP and Chief Claims Officer for Valiant Insurance Group, and Regional Head of Claims for the Americas for XL Capital Group. In previous roles he also led professional liability teams at Kemper and CNA. 

As importantly, those who knew him well, knew him to be generous with his time, his support, and his desire to advance the industry through his thoughts and leadership. We extend our condolences and best wishes to his family, his colleagues and his friends at a very difficult time.

Chris Brew Joins Suite 200 Solutions

Lake Geneva, WI — Suite 200 Solutions (formerly CLM Advisors) announces that Chris Brew has joined Suite 200 Solutions.

Chris will focus his consulting practice on helping  insurance carriers as well as technology and service providers increase customer satisfaction, enhance operational efficiencies,  improve claim outcomes, select digital solutions  and other critical initiatives. He will also serve as a member of the Company’s Transaction Advisory Group, which supports investment and acquisition activity in the property casualty claims arena.

Before joining Suite 200 Solutions, Chris served as Senior Vice President of CCC Casualty (Auto Injury Solutions), where he led ~3,000 resources delivering First-party Bill Review, Third-party Injury Evaluation and Medical Advisory Solution offerings through a combined on/offshore model including clinical (RN and LPN), professional code review professionals and through contracted physician and PPO networks.

Previously, Chris served as Principal Director within Accenture’s Claims Management Consulting Practice where he led large scale claims transformations at some of the world’s largest and most respected insurance companies. These included operating model design, diagnostic assessment, process reengineering, loss cost improvement, expense reduction, efficiency improvement and implementation planning projects, among others.

Chris was also instrumental in developing Accenture’s digital claims operating model, outlining the path for companies to shift to automation-supported, exception-based claim handling approaches, customer directed claim processes and magnified loss prevention efforts enabled by analytics, artificial intelligence and digital technology.

Prior to Accenture, Chris was Vice President of Claims for Selective Insurance Company of America. In this role, he was responsible for the auto physical damage line of business, the Claims Service Center, the Claims Apprentice Program, and multiple strategic projects. He led large scale initiatives including an injury evaluation process for casualty claims, panel counsel management as well as legal bill review system and vehicle inspection technology implementations.

Chris obtained Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance and Operations Management from St Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA. He holds the Senior Claim Law Associate (SCLA) designation from the American Educational Institute.

Chris has published and presented at industry conferences extensively. He has served on the TyMetrix Advisory Board, the PCI Physical Damage Subcommittee, the ISO Auto Physical Damage Panel, the Copart Advisory Board, the Audatex Strategic Advisory Council and a member of the Society of Claim Law Associates and the Society of Insurance Trainers and Educators.

He is actively involved in ending hunger and food insecurity working with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and previously at the Midwest Food Bank.

Jeff brings to Suite 200 Solutions customers more than 30 years of claims leadership experience in the specialty claims arena. His career has included numerous claim executive roles, including EVP and Chief Claims Officer for Aspen Insurance Group, SVP and Chief Claims Officer for Valiant Insurance Group, and Regional Head of Claims for the Americas for XL Capital Group. In previous roles he also led professional liability teams at Kemper and CNA. 

Jeff’s consulting practice will include a focus on succession planning within claims organizations, and a focus on the identification and development of internal leadership candidates. He believes this to be of critical importance in the development of a high-performance claims culture, strong morale, and overall claim handling philosophies that drive superior results.

He was one of the first in the industry to recognize the importance of deploying coverage specialists, litigation managers and reinsurance experts within the primary claims department, and in introducing line of business specialization at companies still utilizing “generalists” within the specialty claims environment. With deep experience at post-acquisition, post-merger staff integrations and claim system implementations, Jeff is uniquely positioned to assist our clients address the multi-faceted challenges they face.

Jeff obtained his Bachelor of Science from the American University in Washington, D.C. graduating cum laude. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School, and received his license to practice law in the State of New Jersey in 1983.

A total of 73 claim executives participated in this survey, which examined overall claim volume changes in multiple lines of business between March and May of 2020.

The objective of the Study was to provide claim executives with a sense of what their peers have been experiencing across the claims industry.

The partnership will leverage a powerful combination of deep industry experience of Suite 200 Solutions’ Advisors, and their extensive professional networks, with the entrepreneurial and technical acumen of VAULT’s product and technology specialists. VAULT’s portfolio of insurtech experience ranges from engagements with startups to legal service providers to large insurance carriers. 

Partnership activities will focus on uncovering and defining innovation opportunities within the property and casualty claims industry, and addressing those opportunities with technology-based solutions. Initiatives stemming from the partnership will be co-led by Stefanie Jenkins and Dean Harring.
